Man. finally starting to feel settled. The satellite was installed today for our computer, the propane company delivered our propane tank, we have a phone, just like in the big city. One big difference, we are in the heart of farm country surrounded by alfalfa fields, old huge trees, & a stones throw from the river. It feels great to be back home. I'm getting involved in a new 1/4 mile dirt track that was just completed west of town. The whole community is behind it. First race on it brought 60 cars & around 600 fans. We are racing IMCAs, Dwarfs, Super Stocks, etc. Ran into some of the guys I know from the local car club. Its great being here. The town is about 2000 people, we are about 4 miles outside of town.
The Blazer is running great so far. We are getting 21 MPG on the road around 16-18 MPG in town. The tranny seems to be working just fine. The F250 4x4 did as always & got our trailer here. It didn't do as well as I hoped & had done in the past with mileage around 5.6 MPG. 6-7 was the normal in past trips. But I was running the timing advanced more than in the past. I need to back off the vacuum advance a turn or so.
Anyway I back

No won't make it to the meet. I wish I could make it but the wife planted a garden, flowers, etc. so I'm settling down it looks like. Plus I'm busy working on my knives, we have 4 shows coming up. I'm also getting involved with the dirt track guys.
I was talking to an old rancher in Fallon today. He has a 2000 power stroke diesel, & he told me he keeps his 1985 6.9 diesel so he won't have to walk. The 6.9 has over 400,000 miles & he said he doesn't expect that out of his 2000. The Ford dealership in Fallon is begging people to buy the new Ford diesels. This rancher told me they have called him twice trying to get him to buy a new Ford diesel. This use to be Ford Country but after being gone from here for 9 years there are more Chevy's than ever on the roads here. More than Ford for sure. The 6.0 killed Ford here, Bart you know how the old ranchers are up here. Loyalty goes out the window when it starts costing them big money & down time.
Anyway I've missed everyone, & will for sure miss seeing everyone. Have a great meet. I'll be around the AZ Chapter so I hope Mark does pictures again.
The 6.0 almost killed FORD in general.....what a massive mistake! Anyways......sounds like you dove right in with the locals Craig, that's great. Enjoy the summer!
so do the locals still 4wd to the top of rattle snake mountain to watch the dirt track races? I miss doing that, had to get there eairly to get a good spot so we would pack a grill and a cooler and have a tail gate party while waiting for the race.
I'm not sure what Fallon is doing. I know they still have races. We has our second race of the season today here in Lovelock. Last night they raced in Winnemucca. Day races are hot. We saw 100 degrees today with about 30% humidity. The price of being in farming country. great for crops. The wife's garden is already coming up. She bought a bunch more plants yesterday in Fallon.
