I agree 100%!!! But when she looks in the mirror, she still sees herself at 375!!! We can't convince her that she has taken it too far. It's really sad. And sickly is a good way to put it. She looks like she's 90-years-old!!! I can't stand to go see her anymore. When her mom calls and says she's back in the hospital, I stay in the waiting room while her dad goes in. I wouldn't go at all, but my Honey needs the moral support.

Thanks Snowbunny. I am truly sorry to hear about Cora.

The decision is partly made but not set in stone, this seems to be hard to make completely, with my other operations and procedures that were done was they were a necessity and no choice to think about it.

Yeah, well you have medical reasons and not vanity for considering such a thing. Best of luck, Cliff!!!

As to a girl over 100lbs being attactive...i'll state for the record absolutely! less than 100lbs is scrawney.

Cliff I have had the gastric bypass and so has my wife... IT has been a blessing, between the two of us we have lost almost 400lbs. All my diabetes problems and meds are gone. Actually all my meds are gone. The only pills I take are vitamins.

Snowbunny I hate to hear that your daughter is having all those problems, from what you have said he sounds like an idiot.

Cliff if you would like to talk to a real patient,pm me your cell and I will give you a call and answer questions for you. We have another member here who did the same thing for me 2years ago.

There was a story on foxnews.com today about a new way to do the operation, they don't have to make any incisions. Supposed to be safer than the other way.

Have you explored all your options?

The Dr Bernstein program delivers results. Fast.

I'd link you to it, but it's slowing down my 'puter. Google Dr Bernstein.

A person I know has done it, and the results are amazing.

A friend of mine died after having gastro surgery.

He was the chief engineer here . talk about leaving a hole both personally and professionally.

Cliff.

I have 2 sisters who are obese.....They tackled it in different ways....

My older sister had the gastric bypass......and while she lost about 60 lbs pretty quickly, she plataued and stopped losing.......Not really the results she wanted, and it just goes to show, even if you can't put in too much crap at one time after gastric bypass, it's still crap....

I would look at gastric bypass as a last option.

My younger sister went on Atkins 1 1/2 years ago and has lost 80 lbs, with about 40 left to go. This was with minimal exercise too.

Question:

HAVE you tried the Atkins diet? The reasons I ask is because my older sister appears to have tried every GD diet in the book EXCEPT for Atkins---which is tailor-made for ALL levels of obesity, and is healthy to boot (more on that later---I'm sure there will be detractors).

Note: The Atkins diet also has the beneficial characteristic of showing good results with diabetics, pre-diabetics, persons with high BP, and persons with high cholesterol. FINALLY....After years of unfair accusations and assumptions leveled at the Atkins diet, they finally did long-term criterial studies on the diet and rival diets. Atkins won in so many ways.

I thought I might get some support here. But all I am getting is grief.Y'all are not going through what I am,I would rather take a small risk and have the surgery than be dead in less than 10 years.

Later this is the last y'all will hear from me.

Cliff I hope is isn't my post that set it off....

I thought you wanted comments on the surgery.....Risk vs reward, or even alternatives.

If I'm the one who accidentally punched you, dude, I am sorry. Truly.

Peace
