Fuel issue
Need some help before we take to highway for summer, have 2001 XLT 5.4l 4wd , hadn't been driving much lately due to gas prices, about two weeks ago needed to use and this is when the problems started, first off let me tell you , the check engine light isn't even on, getting to problem, when I start her up you can feel when you step on gas that it's sputtering like not getting smooth fuel mix, when I drive it, it shifts through gear fine, except when i get over 60, when I get on highway and get to 60 plus and the overdrive kicks in and drops the RPMS, she doesn't like this and starts sputtering hard and I have to step on gas to get rpms up. I'm hoping someone here might know of solution, I've been reading post but nothing like this .

A worn boot is hard, brittle, and has micro cracks caused by engine heat over time. Because of that, they leak spark and you can get spark jumping to ground instead of going to the plug. A set of 8 goes for $20-$30 depending on where you buy them, plus a tube of dielectric grease for the reinstall.
