hey guys i am having a tough time figuring out what year my truck is. vin says its a 1977. just wondering how would i know if its a 77 or a 77.5 it is a f250, has 3'' rear leafs but the frame is 34'' under the cab then flares out to 37'' or whatever it is,i am just really confused.any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are we talking about a 4x4?
Wide frame in the rear, 3" rear springs, married transfer case, Bolt on front spring hangers, all would indicate a 77.5 truck.
thanks guys, hey got another one for ya. my vin # on my door starts with x15 for truck series.cant find anywhere that will break it down.i would love to find out what that x15 means.

Welcome to FTE
X15 = F150 2WD Super Cab
The Warranty Plate is located on the left door face below the latch.
Ppl swapped left doors due to accidents, and forgot to swap over the Warranty Plate = the major reason why the VIN on the Warranty Plate doesn't match the VIN on the registration.
1977/79 Warranty Plates have the specific year stamped on them. The year appears on the second line of the plate.
btw: The last "High Boy" was produced in 1977 before serial number Y20,001 = what some refer to as 1977.5.
The serial number is the last 6 digits of the VIN.
well im thinkin its a 77.5.the headlights are still round and it doesn't have the divorced transfer case. i guess my best bet is to find the frame vin. and go from there.thanks for your help guys this is really a great site.

As original.
ALL 1973/77 F100/350's have round headlights.
ALL 1978 Customs have round headlamps, the Rangers have rectangular headlamps.
ALL 1979 F100/350's have rectangular headlamps.
The last "High Boy" was assembled before serial number Y20,001.
1977 F100/350's have two serial number ranges > >
From O00,001 thru O99,999 / From X80,001 thru Z25,000.
Lukeg, Does yours have power steering? That is the easist way for me to tell if the frame is highboy or 77.5-79. The 77.5-79 has a power steering gear box not the power sleeve, and the box is on the inside (in the engine compartment not on the outside) of the frame. That is the first thing I look at if it has power steering and a dead give away.
