please help! clutch bracket problem

please help! clutch bracket problem

hey i have a problem: i am trying to fix and remove the clutch bracket and I have a broken nut underneath that was supposed to be welded to the frame but it broke and the nut on top of the bracket is stripped this needs to be loosened, adjusted and tightened again and I cannot get a wrench in there please help if you can, any suggestions? the truck is a 1977 -f150 2wd 300ci

I'm not sure where your talking about either. Are you working inside the cab?
Anyway you might try a pair of long needle nose vice grips.

sorry guys i'll try to get a picture posted

ps. it's in the engine bay and it holds the clutch equalizer/release bracket to engage or disengage the clutch (if this helps)

I know what you're talking about - had to loosen mine awhile back to replace the bushings and felts, but the nuts were not welded to the frame - they are steel locking clinch nuts, and need to be backed up or they will spin. I don't remember them being that difficult to get to, though. Of course if the bolt heads are rounded off, then they could become a challenge, but I'd visegrip the bolt then instead and ratchet off the nut.

I second what NOCO77 said! PB blaster and vice grips (if rounded) are your friend. I am surprised 31 years of oil and grease didn't make it a cinch to take off! Mine was caked on!!
