Hi Guys,
What a great site. Lots of good info here!! Yesterday I relpaced my stock Ford radio with a Clarion Pro Audio ARX6670Z. Seems to be a good HU. I bought an adapter wiring harness at the shop where I got the Clarion. I hooked it and I have 1 problem. When I turn the fader to the front 2 speakers I get sound out of both of them, no matter if balance is left or right. If I fade to rear speakers I get proper balance control between left and right. I don't know if it was this way with the stock radio or not. Any ideas??. Thanks.
While, I would pull the new unit, put your stock unit back on and see if the problem is with the Clarion radio/wireing to adapter, or something inside the pick-up. However, I dought that there is anything wrong inside the pick-up. So, I would check to make sure if you have the harness wired properly, if not I belive your problem could be within the Clarion.
i would have to say that the wires got switched in the harness. You probably have one correct wire and one incorrect wire to each of the front speakers. I had this happen in my 91 mustang. just pull your new deck, find each set of the two wires going to the speakers, and test them by connecting a "c" or "d" cell battery to the wires. This will make a scratching noise come from the speakers when you scratch the wires on the battery. Then you can figure out which wires go where, and fix it.
I agree with " 93bigbronco " I had the exact same problem. The aftermarket harness is not labeled correctly for this truck. Use the battery method to find the right ones.
