40" M/T's
Hey there is a guy local that is selling a set of 16" Welds with 40" M/T for $250. He says the welds are 6lug for chebbys. My highboy is 8 lug pattern. Now I would not be using the rims and would need new ones as the 40" 's are 16" and mine are 16.5" .
So do I get the deal for the tires alone and just find some new rims???
Will I have problems with fitting the tires under my truck?? Its stock height highboy. What if any mods will need to be done???
He says tires have 95% life.

Any set of tires with 95% tread left for $250 is worth it.
40s will not fit stock.
You could clear 35-36s stock without rubbing.
A lift or fender trimming would give you the necessary room needed.
You could probably sell the wheels on ebay for more than $250 if they even remotely look ok.

What part of CA are you from?
I have a set of aluminum 16 X 10's that are 8 on 6.5". These do have 35" pro comp tires on them, but they probably only have another 10k miles left on them. Wheels are like new, and are a modular design. Rock crushers I believe.
These might be perfect candidates for your new tires.
While you will not clear 40 inch rubber on the stock truck, with a little modification you may get them under there, as long as they are not too wide.
Much depends on how hard you wheel the truck too.
