were you in Quincy,Jake? I know what you mean about the price. my oldest boy wanted to do it,so I checked on the price of a car and about had a heart attack!! I think most of the kids in it get sponsors to pay for some or all of the car. A few days before the races started the local paper had all the kids pictures and who was sponsoring them.
both my brother and sister did it, and they never had any sponsor, my dad built both cars in our garage. now times have changed so i dont know about now a days. what class were you guys looking to run in? but 600 doesnt sound to bad, what if your kids wanted to ride dirt bikes? or be a computer programer? dirt bikes are more then 600 and so is a computer....
I know Quincy just held thiers, I saw it on WGEM. (God I miss home...)
I've never seen anything like it up here. There's no way any of the townships around Chi-town would ever consider closing a road to host one.
The expense is considerable. What happened to the days of building whatever you could come up with in the garage or shed? Probably some legal liability laws...

Might be a good thing you aren't "home" right now!! lots of water in places around here where there isn't supposed to be water. And with 3-4 inches of rain last night, the few levees that haven't broken are in danger.
No, but if quincy does it to, thats 2 towns we could compete in...

600 doesnt sound bad?? I could build the same damn thing for less than 50.00. 600 bucks for something gravity powered and used once a year?? I just bought a quadcore dell w/22in lcd for 614 shiopped to my door.
the last dirtbike I bought (used yz80) was 450 and didnt need gravity to run, and i could use it more than once a year.
600 bucks for a sheet of plywood is a little bit pricey...
if you feel 600 is high you really have no idea what these are made out of yes there is a pice of wood for the floor but the rest is fiber glass, there there is the axels and the steering and brakes, you couldnt even buy the parts for the body let alone the whole deal for 50, and there are races all over the place you can run it many many times a year. they even have natinal meets and qualifing, last time i went it was in ohio, great fun! and you bought a USED bike that you could not RACE it. this is racing not messing around on a hill. The dirt bike you bought is for messing around. if you really looked into it i think the 600 bucks woudlnt seem so bad.
