stimulus checks or lacking
So my wife comes home, and shows me the mail, and their is a check from the treasury direct, and it is a very small amount, it shocked me. I looked at the irs.gov site, and they said that the checks should say 2008 economic stimulus check. This just says tax refund. I had to pay in big time this year, so why would this say tax refund, I am confused. any help from fte.

They do say stimulus rebate or something like that on the lower right hand side. Sounds like you over paid and that was what you got back from that. They are sending the stimulus checks out according to the last 2 digits of your SS (increments of 8 or 9 a week) the mid 50's just went out last week. If you filed jointly I do not know who's SS they use and remember jointly if you make over 150K you get nothing.

I got one like that also, within a couple of days I recieved a letter saying that I made a mitake on last years taxes and the IRS fixed it and refunded the differance. My stimulus check will not be here until next month acording to the IRS web site.

It probably is an adjustment on your tax refund. You can go online and look up when you are supposed to get your check.
If you had your federal refund directed deposited, your stimulus check will be direct deposited. If not, it will be mailed to you.

Mine was supposed to be mailed on May 23...notta. Three friends of mine have not received theirs either.

I just heard today that the gvt. is not sending them to people who owe student loans, taxes, child support and some other stuff. It sounded more like they printed them out then ran the SS to find out if you owe any of those things and "intercepted" the check to put it towards those things.
