Guess I must be looking for a 56, cause another one showed up, this time in a lot better condition, and a custom cab too..still has the stainless window trim and wiper arms. vacuum wiper motor tho.
more pics in the gallery..
one front corner for sure, maybe part of one rear corner.
a running board..
no grill or radiator.
but it has the engine and tranny.
locks on both doors, both sun visors, still has the cardboard headliner.
neither door rusted out.
Were you seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and got scared, so you got yourself another project to keep your sanity. Your last tuck is awsome, can't wait to see what you do to this one. Great find!
I have a 54 in progress too.. just put a MII front end and new rear spring kit in it (both TCI) with a 9in axle... (in the gallery)..
but I've been looking at the 56's and they keep callin my name..
On the green one, I keep working on different things.. got the engine bay wiring layed out & connected, I have this stainless tube (to polish) to carry the wires from the tranny cover up over the engine, but I want to start this beast soon.. so I put two Weathertech connectors in the harness to allow me to pull the wires if I need to pull the engine. THAT was a lot of fun (not).
so the front is done, grill, lights, engine bay... just keep moving back..
now to get the a/c unit mounted and the hoses marked & crimped, and the wires run there too..
and on to the power door pulls and window & switches..
still haven't picked out gages (since the debacle with Haneline last year), so I have nothing to connect the wires to, will have to tape them off.
rear sway bar should be here this week, and then I'll have to make up end links.
It would be cool if someone made a rear taillight cover with the Ford script in White LED for a backup light..
and the interior guy has a 6 month waiting list.. crap..
....but Sam,,,,you haven't told us how much this '56 cost you.......the other 2 "junkers" in a previous post were $1500.....so we are all on the edge of our bench seats.
Its $1750.. but that could be $1500 plus $250 delivery fee(2 tanks of gas for the 800 mile round trip), as he will deliver it from Lubbock to my sons house. Its not a BW. but I don't have to attempt to make 1 from 3 (2 bad cabs + another cab to get enough parts from!)..
By the way, Midfifty put me on to this place,
Tommy McNeice, 806-781-1956, Lubbock Tx.
and another in Nebraska,
Terry VanHousen, 402-366-7848
Terry has the glue in Fiberglass roof for the 56. requires the drip rail and rear seam to mount to.
Sam,
I've bought several things from Tommy-he comes to the Pate Swap Meet at TMS every year. He's built some very nice trucks through the years also, so he knows his stuff.
I wonder if the guy in Nebraska has the old forms from Gibbons when they moved to SC quite a few years back. I know a guy in KS that put one of those fiberglass roofs on his 56 and it looked good. That was over 20 years ago and it still looks good.
Your truck is lookin' great and congrats on the '56!
