Sorry its long, but I need some help guys. A week ago my truck started to misfire/sputter/bog (hard to describe) at hard acceleration. Accelerating slowly would allow it to rev up to high rpm, but doing it fast would make it bog down until i let off the throttle. Once the throttle was let off it would idle perfect. Then one morning it wouldn't start. After I got home, I was able to start it. Then the next morning nothing. Pulled the plugs, checked for spark, and could smell gas. Then all of the sudden it started up again. Engine light came on, code called for O2 sensor. Bought a new one still bogging/misfiring, but atleast it starts! Replaced wires, rotor, and distributor cap, still nothing. Could it be the advance? The bogging/misfire started after I cleaned my plugs, air filter, and throttle body last week. Please help!! Thanks
Rob, I initially thought the same thing, but it still revs up fine if you push on the gas slowly, and it idles smooth as can be. I am now starting to lean toward a bad cat. The exhaust is coming out super hot. Maybe this could be why the O2 sensor went out?? Too much heat caused it to burn up? Thanks for the quick replys, FTE has always been very helpful.
