I just bought this truck last week. It has 55k on it, so I'm guessing it sat a lot. It seems to run great, but today on my drive to work it started having an intermittent bogging down when accelerating. It didn't seem to matter if I was accelerating soft or harder, or what rpm I'm at. It also did it when it was cold pulling off of my street and it did it once or twice after 15-20 minutes of driving. It just feels like I let off the gas for a moment, I can watch the tach drop about 500 rpm and then just as quick it picks right back up and is fine for a bit. I don't have any check engine light. Any tips would be great!
Tune it up...plugs, wires, fuel and air filters and check the codes, they will lead you in the right direction. Never hurts to do a complete tuneup and fluid change (oil, transmission, differential, power steering and coolant) when you buy someone else's rig and make it your own.

Yep. Gotta make sure the basics are good before you start looking for problems. Unfortunately, most car owners who claim to maintain their cars are only good about changing the oil and washing it once in a while.
If it's been sitting for a while it could have bad gas. If the tuneup doesn't produce the desired results, I would run the tank nearly empty and put some fresh gas in. The gas doesn't have to be old to be bad, either. A co-worker of mine was asking me why her Explorer was running rough. I asked her if she just got gas from a different station. She had. I told her to run the tank down and get gas from her normal station. She did and problem solved.
Thanks guys. I actually put plugs, wires, a belt, and pulleys on it last night. This morning going to work it seemed fine again, knock on wood. The plugs were pretty worn and the wires were starting to feel brittle.
