Hey all. Got an 89 F150 and I'm wanting to put a system in it. Wanting a new head unit and all. The head unit is not my problem though. I would like to put a couple of subs behind the seat. In my past experience, it seems a little hard to get a box behind the seat without having to move the seat all the way up to the steering wheel. I would like to know if anyone has any ideas on this problem. I would like the best sounding bass in the smallest enclosure possible. Amp is no problem either. I plan on replacing the head unit, the door speakers and add subs and amp. Currently have all factory equipment except for a jensen 6 disc changer. Any ideas?
I find Crutchfield has good dimensions on boxes. I have a couple speaker boxes in my 88 F-150 and I only moved my seat one notch up so that I could have room for other things. So look at Crutchfield.
If you have a reputable shop (or do it yourslef), you can make boxes that go behind the seat that are taller and less wide. That way you don't ahve to move the seat up as much, and you still get the airspce you need. Just make sure that the subs you buy will fit in a shallow enclosure. Mosr 10" subs that I have seen need between 5-5.5" mounting depth.
