I've got a 2001 Super Crew with 15k miles. I am experiencing a shuttering or hopping sensation when accelerating from a stop. This only occurs when I am turning from a stop. I do not feel this when I am taking off in a straight line. I do have the limited slip and thought maybe this is the normal result of that technology.
I get the same feeling when I take off from a stop up until about 30-35mph. It's a slight vibration, but it's noticeable.
Please advise if you find out what it is.
Boy does that sound familiar. I have the same thing happening when pulling out of my driveway and head off to work. I was concerned until I noticed the dark marks in the pavement in front of my house. I guess it is the high lead content in my right leg, a little below the ankle. LOL
I notice the EXACT same thing when backing out of my driveway too (2001 F-150 4x4 with 4spd auto)... It only happens with mine just after you start it, and put it in reverse, and back up... It almost feels like the transmission is slipping.. Sometimes it does it right from the start, sometimes it shudders 2 or 3 seconds later, but after it does it the once, it seems not to do it again.. If I give it gas too fast, and the tires chirp, it usually doesn't do it... But if I give it a shot while I am backing up, it slips like this.. I had my dealer sit in with me while it did it, and he told me to take it in.. I will one of these days...
That is definately not a problem. The electronic controls of the Transmission are actually "Guessing" at what your demands of the transmission are going to be. It's all part of the system concerning fuel and energy consumption.
Hey JB,
I tend to agree with a few others on the idea of a high lead content of your right lower leg. My dad has a s'crew and I've noticed that the posi rear end in cornering likes to keep the tires at the same rotational speed, even though we all know that the inner tire on turns ideally turns slower. This results in the tire on the inside of the turn spinning a little on the pavement, especially when I'm on the gas a little. I've noticed the resultant axle hop which is most likely what you are feeling as well. Just means you have some nice torque being produced by that motor Can't wait until the 2002 s'crew come out so I can order mine.
Enjoy the ride,
JC
i work at a dealership and they do have problems with the clutch packs in the rear end and also torque converter problems they have be adding frition modifier in the transmission this is taking care of the trans problem and replacing the clutch packs in the rear ends
