LAST EDITED ON 11-Jun-01 AT 02:58 AM (EST)[p]First, that test is somewhat flawed when it comes to a truck due to barrier height, but that's another discussion. If you noticed the way the F-150 superCAB (not supercrew) deformed, it was the result of the 4th door (which, when latched, acts as a B-pillar) coming open. This left the entire side of the drivers compartment unsupported by any vertical structural member save the A and C pillars, and it consequently deformed in the center, right where the B-pillar should have been. This won't (at least not at that speed) happen on a screw, as there is a fixed B pillar in the center, regardless of whether the doors are open or closed. So, in short: no, I'm not worried (and I bought my screw AFTER I saw that crash test on dateline).
Thanks so much, that was a real help. It does make sense that the extra construction for the rear two doors on the SC would add to the stability and safety of the truck.
