Air Conditioning

Alright guys, I know very little about air conditioning. I've never had a truck that the air conditioning has worked in. My stroker used to have it but that was two years ago. So what do I need to do to get my air back? Can I re-charge the system myself?

Sorry boys, wrong forum. Somehow I wandered upstairs...

i have learned with fords, the only way to get them right, is to replace everything. it's going to cost some money, but if you live in a place like I do, it is well worth it!

it is possible all it needs is some R134
I would check first to see if the system has any pressure,if no pressure is present the it's sure to need some parts

If it were me, I'd have a vacuum pulled on the system to see if it will hold. If not, find the leak, fix it, then try again. That's assuming the compressor isn't at fault. If it's a gonner, tear the system apart, flush everything with denatured alcohol, replace the accumulator-dryer, put it all back together with your new compressor, have it evacuated, and it should be good to go. Oh yeah, replace all the O-rings, and probably the orifice tube, too. I'm not sure which type of O-tube these have, but I'm sure it's easily replaced.

When I rebuilt & converted my old Bronco's system, I flushed it all out, replaced all the O-rings, receiver dryer, and O-tube, replaced the oil in the compressor, and evacuated & filled it. I actually had a bad hose that I had recripmed at Napa, too. But it worked great after that, even though it was originally an R12 system. Good luck!!
