Hello collective. I'm going to be installing a clarion head unit in my 99 F350. I was wondering what ohm the 4 factory speakers are. Also if they arent 4 ohm speakers, will my sound quality suffer? Is it tough to get the speakers out of the front and rear doors?
One thing.. I'd go back to the store and exchange the Clarion for something like a Sony, JVC, or Pioneer.. I have installed (myself, unprofessionally) several head units, and one of my buddies went to a cheap alternative, Clarion.. well his is from "down below", and I talked to some buddies who are into stereo systems a lot, they say Clarion is good, if you get the more expensive ones.. but if you spend around $150 (+/- $25) you shouldn't expect much... Hope I helped you, and if the watts on your unit are like 180watt (45 per chan) you should be fine...
Your stock speakers will not suffer. I did the same thing in my 2000 CC. At high volumes the deck can overpower the speakers, but overall not bad. However if you do switch your stock speakers out for a nice set of compnents up front and some good 2 or 3 ways in the back you will be much more happy. also much more broke. I found that it was worth the money though. (also, the 4 10"s behind the rear seat complete the package.)
