Well my 03 Excursion 6.8 with 90,000miles on it did not pass the NY state inspection. They guy said 2 of my system monitors are not ready, one is the oxygen sensor, and second is the oxygen sensor heater or heated?
There is no check eng light on when I drive the truck. I am getting 12.5miles to the gal.
I went to another station they passed me because they did not use an OBD scanner they did the old dyno since the truck is over 8600lbs.
So my question is any suggestion on what I should look for or check? I went to autozone asking they pull any trouble code and there is none found.
The truck been running fine other wise, the battery has not been discounted for over 1 year.
I recently changed all three O2 sensors in my X... I replaced with Bosch... I was pulling a O2 sensor code (I believe it was 2272) and with replacing all three sensors and completing a "driving cycle" the code was "cancelled out"... I also cleaned the MAF and changed the fuel filter.
Increased MPG by at least 1.5 in my X ( a mix of city and highway driving).
Sounds like you needed to drive your truck a little longer before he hooked it up the the scan tool/emissions checker. Completely normal and I would not worry about it.

The O2 sensors are heated.
so far thats what everyone said. since the last battery change the truck has seem over 10,000 miles. I even drove the truck over 100 mile before the second test but still no go. No I am now lost to what could cause the two system to be not ready at this point. I don't want to change out all 4 o2 sensor just to see if they work since I get no codes.
If there was anything wrong with the operation of the O2 sensors, then the PCM would light up the CHECK ENGINE light.
A complete drive cycle doesn't have anything to do with distance. If you search for it in the V10 forum, you'll see that it is rather involved with varied speeds and conditions and all.
I really think you should not worry about it.
And FWIW, we only have 3 O2 sensors. 2 before, 1 after.
Thing that I don't get is, the battery was discounted over 1 year ago with all the stop and go, and highway miles ( between 50mph to 65mph) I have done those monitors should be ready by now. There shouldn't be any reason why they are not ready.
I plan to change out the plugs at 100k miles, maybe i will just change out those 3 o2 sensors as well.
Those monitors also have to be ready from the actual start of the engine that day not just the last time the battery was disconnected.
Changing the O2 sensors at 100K is not a bad idea. Expensive but good maintenance IMHO. I'm changing out all 4 on my Avalanche this week with 81K on the clock ... but my CHECK ENGINE lit for the passenger side, after cat is not working correctly.
I got mine from thepartsbins.com. Cheapest I could find that day.
Damnit I thought the monitor goes not ready once the battery is off.
Now I have no idea what could have cause it.
Oh well as long as my MPG stays the same and nothing else goes wrong. I will just clean the MAF, and change out the plugs and O2 sensors and call it a day, and see.
The cheapest O2 sensor I found is via Rockauto
They got Denso for 32 each and Bosch at 39 each. I also got a 5% off code via the net. so it's not so bad.
