C4 Newbie

I have installed a 351W with a C4 in my '50 F1 and have a few questions.
First, is it difficult to change the tranny filter? I would like to do this before I add fluid. Second, I want to install a dual pass external cooler on the frame instead of using the radiator. Will the finned tube type cooler work and can I connect it with rubber lines instead of metal? I appreciate any help offered.

The filter is inside the pan bolted to the valve body. Pay attention to the length of the bolts and put them back in the right holes. When you lower the filter you will find a spring and valve behind a tab on the filter. Don't lose them and put them back in the same place. The valve goes up against the valve body with the spring holding it there.
A large frame mounted cooler with an electric fan should work fine. The metal lines are much more durable than rubber but you should have a short piece of rubber tube to absorb vibration.
