2002 4x Ranger Trans problem
All,
I am new to the page but have a question.
This has been happening for the last 20k or so and the truck has 90k on it as of now. When I start my truck 1st thing in the am and go right into drive my tranny acts weird. The O/D light goes on and off and it starts in 2nd and bangs into 1st/3rd intermittently. this continues untill I turn it off for a few hours and start her again - then it acts fine. If I start it 1st thing and wait 2 minutes to start driving (in park) all is ok.
Has anyone seen this type of behavior and what could it be?

It could be a lot of things. The flashing OD light means a code is stored in the computer's memory. Getting the code is the place to start. It takes an Ford compatible OBDII scan tool to read the code. Auto parts stores that read codes free don't have the right tool. You'll have to pay someone to read it.
