[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-Dec-01 AT 00:43 AM (EST)]I don't really understand the question but I will give it a shot. I don't know the MTX size's either. A large speaker needs alot of juice to drive. A 100 watt amp is a little weak for anything, tweeters maybe. It also depends on the quality of the amp and its RMS(sustainable out put). If the question is why don't the subs( big speakers) work, maybe they just don't have enough pushing them. I am not trying to be a smart alek, but I don't understand the question fully, but I want to help since no one else is responding. If you want read my heres a speaker idea for ya'll...if you are looking for great sound. I want to help, maybe if you refine the question it may help me understand the exact question you are looking to have answered.

A little confused here but.
If this is a 4 channel amp you should have 4 RCA inputs (2 pairs)
Do you have signal going into both pairs?

Biggest suggestion I can give is buy a new amp. The one you have doesn't sound very good. It sounds like you are hooking the speakers into the high OR low frequency port. I only have dealt with top grade amps so my knowledge of mid or lower is poor. I am not trying to shoot you down, or say your equipment is crap. Check the "gain" adjustment to make sure it isn't turned all the way down. Also make sure that you have the right wires going where they should. You may just have a blown channel in the amp. How many channels is it? You may want to talk to some one around you who knows a little about stereos who could maybe help swap their amp in for a few minutes. That would be a simple way to check it. Also check any fuses the amp may have. To me it seems the amp is the problem. Then again like you I have only been into stereos for about six months. Hope this helps in some way or another.

Check the wiring. Also you may have the rear channels blown.

it sounds to me like one channel of your amp is blown, you can keep that amp and drive the fronts with it and get another amp for your subs.

i know this doesn't help your problem much but I don't have an amp,I just have all the speakers wired straight from the stereo out puts, with a 600 watt 6 1/2 bazooka tube type sub in the left rear output and it sounds great and hits pretty good. I don't need anything real loud and I figured I saved like 200 bucks and it still sounds great, but thats just my opinion.

quick duhh thing, did u check your fade controls. maybe the amp has it own. does your head unti have front and rear rca outputs. another possiblity is that your head unit may have a filter on the front rca to stop low frequencys.. if this is true and your amp has a filter to stop high frequencys, the two might be cancling each other out. if you have rear rca outputs on your head unit as well as front, hook the rca cables into your rear output on the head unit and try again.
