Has anyone tried to put some sort of block or way to level an early 70's front end 2WD. I will be replacing the coils and shocks soon and thought about putting a 1-2" block under the coil during exchange to level the look of the truck. I know there is not much room to play without modifying the arms but I only want a little lift.
Also When shopping for springs the heavy duty coils are cheeper everywhere than the progressive rate is this a better option when replacing for keeping the front end up and ride quality?
Progressive springs will always provide a better ride, but they have to be tuned to the vehicle. I doubt you'll find any for a truck that old. H&R would be a good one to speak with, H&R Special Springs, LP.
As for the lift, I'd say look to see if you will have the alignment adjustibility once they are put on, especially toe.
You might try looking at a checker/schucks/kragen store, I know they carry rubber coil spring spacers that should give you a little lift. They just slip in between your coils to expand them a bit. I think they were only $20.
