Dip stick tube O-ring/seal. I personally have never had to pull one apart but there are several guys here that have and from what I have listened to them saying it sounds like that is a real possibility that is your problem.
Clean the area real well and there are some precautions that you need to take before tearing into it as parts can drop into the pan, I think.
in the spot you descrive it could be a couple of differnet options. look at the valve cover make sure it isnt coming from the gasket. check the dipstick tube and see if the oil is running down the dipstick. also check the gallery to make sure you dont have oil pooling up on top of the motor and running down the back and onto the starter (not sure if this is completely possible, but i wouldnt rule anything out!). also, definitely check out the oil dipstick hole/flange. i am battling that leak still as we speak!
Check the oil galley in the head. There is a plug in the back of the galley built in the head. I had a leak and couldn't find it. $6 part and kinda easy to change. Don't get the gasket, get the whole plug.
