Running poorly

1994 PSD 4x4 F-350 Dually 5spd.

So I did a bunch of work to this truck and got it running good and everything working well , then I didnt need it so it sat parked for the last month.
I started it up today and it smoked a bunch for a few minutes.
(Blue smoke)
I pulled out on to the street and put my foot in it and it wouldnt pick up any speed.
I babied it along into 3rd gear and it took off and ran like a hotrod , picking up speed fast.
I put it into 4th and put my foot in it and the same thing happened it just bogged out?

Its fine and picks up speed in all gears as long as you feather the fuel pedal but if you stomp on it you get nothing.
It was good before I parked it.

EBPV sticking??

How long was it sitting?
Maybe you have algae in the fuel. Check the fuel filter.

Exhaust Back Pressure Valve. It helps warm the engine by restricting the exhaust. If it is stuck shut the engine will have poor performance.

Look under the turbo for a wire connector. Disconnect it.

Yep, it really doesn't do anything except cause trouble. If you live in the arctic then maybe you need it. Some use it for an exhaust brake.

I live close to the arctic....................
I cant see any wire going to the turbo.
Theres a manual looking thing hanging down with nothing hooked to it?
Kinda like carb linkage?

Two wire connector just under the intake boot where it attaches to the turbo.

What do you call the other round thing that looks like the turbo, beside the turbo?
Its rusty and the turbos still silver looking?
They are hooked together?

That's the exhaust side of the turbo. It gets very hot which I'm guessing is why it's a different kind of metal. The silver part is the intake side.

Vin that linkage you are talking about is the rod for the exhaust back pressure valve and the "rusty round thing" you are asking about is the exhaust side of the turbo. That rod should be attached to the valve which is bolted on the "rusty round thing" or the exhaust side of the turbo the valve is a gate valve and can be wired open.
