Has anyone used the Sulastic Rubber Spring Shackles? I have a 2006 F-250 and use it to tow my toys. I have Deaver Leafs and Air Ride bags to compensate when using the 5th wheel. However when unloaded the ride is quite bumpy, especially for the kids in the back. I recently stopped by ORU and the salesperson mentioned the Sulastic Shackles. Their website is Sulastic.com and it looks interesting. I did a search and the only threads I found were on the 7.3 forum and there was no first had experience with them.
So, has anyone installed them and have direct experience with this product? Does it really smooth out the unloaded ride?
If you're running stock shocks switch to a set of Bilsteins and you'll get a much better ride. Also, just checked out their website, doesn't look like the larger rubber bushing in the assembly is replaceable. When their 1 year warranty is up and that one fails you'll need to drop another $350 for a new set.
My understanding is that "velvet ride" was gobbled up by sulastic. Do a search for "velvet ride shackle" and you should get more results. Most folks that had the old velvet rides loved em.
Looks like the SA-06 for $350 is the deal for most Super Duty's. I didn't call Sulastic but the original velvet-ride shackles were designed and manufactured by Lord Corporation. They sold the rights several years back.
The guys that posted in the past with Velvet-Ride shackles were all pleased with the improved ride.
