My Rant

Why is it that the EPA puts on ALL this emissions BULLCRAP on our diesels to create better emissionswhen it uses MORE FUEL, thus hurting our Fuel mileage wouldnt they have better emmissions if we could have 300+ hp and 600+ ft lbs of tourque and STILL get AT LEAST 20 mpg!! And wouldnt it sell like crazy? WTF, someone tell me what im wrong about. OR option 2: jion me with my rant. Any comments would be nice.

The tree huggers won't be happy unless part of the solution is that you also can't afford to drive it.

Same thing that happened to gas motors in the 70's. For some reason an engine that consumes more fuel and makes less power can be made to have a cleaner emissions spectrum. Don't ask me how. . .

Well good proof that it is just a game for our (NOT) benifit. Meaning to remove freedoms and pick the pocket some more. The big boys that all this enviro crap was suppose to attack, are the ones that skate away free. All Jet aircraft are exempt from any and all emissions regulations. So what does that tell ya? They are the most fuel guzzliing and polluting engine that has ever been devised. The airlines and militarys of the world are burning fuel at a rate that makes a Seattle rush hour look like nothing. And if those engines aren't burning it they are just dumping it all over board and creating the mysterious oil slicks on lakes and ponds. Then if all that isn't enough they fill the skys with the now persistant smog trails(vapour trails/contrails). Just remember the raw fuel looks like water vapour and so does smoke from a forest fire. So it aint all water vapour coming out of them.
And reguardless of what it is, if it is causing the massive cloud effects that it does. Jet engines should be banned. Go back to the old prop planes they sounded better to boot.

The thing that should make all this obvious is the lack of any information anyplace on how much a jet engine burns, and what the emissions are from them. So what is the big secret for?

Don't forget ships...they burn the lowest quality fuel out there (heavy fuel oil) and cause a lot of pollution, but I bet they don't have particulate filters...

ULSD kinda sucks, in my opinion. It costs way more and doesn't get as good of mileage (in ANY diesel).

they did screw up the gas engines in the 70s. They lowered compression, retarded the timing and gave us EGR in the name of clean air. 71-74 was the worst.
In otherwords, its possible to burn the fuel and have low vehicle emissions without using the fuel in the most efficient manner to push the pistons down. Burning fuel in the exhaust system does bring back memories of gassers in the 70s.

In ten years who knows what we will learn about the additives they put into ULSD after they remove the sulfur. Maybe it will end up another MTBE poisoning drinking water. It seems really inefficient to take a compound (sulfur) out of the fuel when it provides positive benefits to the combustion process. The air is so much cleaner today that 20 years ago, do we really need to keep finding more labor and chemical intensive ways to ruin arguably our best transport fuel (diesel)?

Think about it.....why the hell wiuld you be paying for an EGR system on your newer vehicle. Everything that relic system does can be programed by the computer! The manufacturer gets to sell you this stuff and make exorbatent profits on it. Course I might add why do you need fancy wheels and other **** on a utility vehicle like a pickup ,specially one used for work. If you need to get attention just paint the damn thing HOT PINK!!!!
