I'm heading to St. Paul, MN Thursday AM, for the the Back to the 50's show, anyone else going? I'm registered as number 8584. Last year there were over 11,000 cars and trucks in attendance. I imagine the gas prices will have some effect on this year but maybe not.
I love that show. Only got to go once a few years ago but it was a blast. I was there all three days and never came close to seeing everything. Have fun and take some pictures for us....
There are over 10,800 cars pre-registered, so I think they're going to crack 12,000 this year. I will be there in my black '56 big window with the coke machine in the back.
I personally thought the show would suffer with the price of fuel. Maybe a lot of the participants are culling their show choices and saving to go to the few "must have" shows.
this would be one of those "must-have" shows. This last weekend, the Barnum, MN car show had close to 200, and that's a small town. Earlier, I heard the Spooner, WI show had hardly any compared to last year. I think it's a pick-your-poison type affair with the fuel prices.
Yesterday, one coworker won Mayor's-choice for his 64 LeMans vert w/tripower. And today another coworker brought his 36 Chev pickup rat-rod to work, and smoked those big meaty tires, lol. I don't know if he'll get written up for that or not, lol. It'll be at the Back-to-the-50's. Unfortunately, I won't be there this year.
Though I won't be attending as stated, I will make an effort to see the Amsoil Street Rod Tour kicking off in Superior, WI Wednesday night, before they head down there. I'm thinking if I stay and work late, I can just trot on over and check them out.....wife will never know, lol.

Come up through Sioux City, we are high and dry right now, and the new by-pass will take you around sioux city and the small towns almost to the minn/iowa border. knocks about 20 to 30 mins. off the trip just from here in sioux city. It's the second turn off of I-29 AFTER the airport/ Sgt. Bluff turn off. The first turn off after the airport will get the gas stations and Wendy's and Culver's eatery's. Both are very clean places to eat. Good luck and have a safe trip!
There is a ''back to the fifties'' show in NEW CASTLE,Pa. next month, and it is real big--not as large as this one, though. I go, and it is in a old park setting--real good for pics. It isn't far from Akron/Canton/Pittsburgh/Cleveland,etc,and will always be 1 to hit if you can......Bill
