Speaker Wiring
I have a factory stereo that I'm trying to wire into a boat for a friend. It's the am/fm from a 89 F-150. Since there isn't a male end to simply hook it up, can anyone give the colors of the stereo wiring so I can wire up this stereo? Or can you purchase the male end at Radio Shack?
I looked at the wiring diagram on a website, but the colors are different.
Thanks

Normally two plugs plug into the radio both having the capability for 8 prongs each.
One is dedicated to power, memory, lights and ground and the other for speakers. I am guessing that you have the radio w/o plugs and you are going to spade the pin outs I will try to make this easy...
Looking at the power plug consider for reference the notches are facing down and are at the bottom ______[-]___[-]_______
from L to R with the notches as above (POWER)
LG/Y (hot all the time) empty Y/BK (hot w/ key on) LB/R (lights) and
O/BK (display) the next 3 pins are empty
The Speaker Plug facing the same way (notches down)
O/LG Left Front Spkr LB/W Left front Spkr PK/LG Left rear Spkr
PK/LB Left rear Spkr (Those are the first 4 pins)
W/LG Right Frnt Spkr DG/O Right Frnt Spkr PK/LB Right rear Spkr
DG/O Right rear Spkr
I have installed allot of recycled Ford radio's in all sorts of heavy equipment. Some slight trial and error with a battery and a speaker may be needed but it even helps more to get the plugs at a junk yard.
I hope it helps out. Nice pictures on the gallery.
Best of luck,
Bob
