I wouldnt loop the strap around like it was intended. Id put a shackle through it and connect it to a strap.
??? Why the Shackle. I have a strap with the loop sowen closed, I just drop the loop through, and run the end of the strap to the viehicle I'm pulling out.....
I've use straps in the choker possitions before, and it is a pain in the ___ to take off after it sinches down. A shackle is the stronger, easier way to go.
Don't know if I should argue with you and correct you though, I might get Ban.
using them in the choker postion does make it weaker, and ask for it cinching down if you put a small towel in there itll stop it from being too big of a pita to get undone
i know this has been beatin to death, but i think its been decided before that that thick **** marine grade rope is ok to use right? anyone ever use a fire hose? ive seen my buddies use them before and wasnt real sure how safe they are, i know theyre tough thigns but dunno just how tough
thats kinda what i was thinking, but ive seen them used a couple times and theyve been fine, i was thinking it may make an ok strap but im still hesitant about it
A 3/4" clevis/shackle works with me.(I've used smaller when not stuck to bad with no problems also).
A 7/8" be plenty.
1" is definatly plenty, but just looks bad ****.
There's a 1 1/2" clevis at work with a 17 ton WLL that I'd love to have.
As for a fire hose.....I don't think I'd want to use one.
One of my friends used one and when he jurked a truck, it slowed him down and started pulling him backwards with all the stretch....didn't think that thing would stretch that much. Then it dry rotted pretty quick and poped the next time he used it.
