F-600 brake problems

Hello everyone,
I have a 1976 Ford 600 and I am having trouble with the brakes. When I appy the brakes the hydro vac activates the boost valve and allows the air pressure to boost, I can here the air as the intake hose is behind the drivers seat. When I take my foot off the brake the air is still giving boost (as I can here it) . When I stop the truck and open the bleed on one of the wheel cylinders there is brake fluid pressure as I can here the brakes release.
When start the truck and apply the brakes ...they work O.K. until the system pressures up and I have the same problem. It seems that the system won't depressure enough to allow the boost valve to fully close.
I would appreciate anyones input.
Thanks, Robert

Hey Robert 17,

We here in the Excursion forum would love to help and are a rather friendly bunch, but as far as answering your question, you might have better luck asking it in one of the other forums on this site, as they may have more insight/experience with your issue.

Having said that, welcome to FTE! I'm sure someone here can help with your problem.

Good luck!

Welcome to FTE

I suggest you ask this question in the "Brakes, Steering, Suspension, Tires & Wheels" forum.

I have the correct Ford parts catalogs, so I can look up the parts, even search for them...but I know very little about the brake systems in these trucks.

Asking the question in the brake forum should get you the answer you need.

Robert, Just recently repaired a toter home I used to own that was doing the same thing. Although it is an International 1900 series with a little bit different system I found it to be the rubber line between the steel line on the chassis and the tee on the rear end. The line had deteriorated enough on the inside that it allowed the fluid to go to the rear calipers but it acted as a check valve and would not let the fluid return upon releasing the brakes. While I was at it I replaced all the rubber brake lines on the truck, all now is good as new.
