Talking EGR System

I was told NOT to buy the DPFE's from Auto Zone. But I was told that the DPFE I already have bought last Autumn ($70) has a full 2-YEAR warranty. I swapped out the bad one for a new one today - free of any charges. The replacement still has a full 1-YEAR warranty.

Plus I replaced the vacuum solenoid ($33) and that has ended the excessively loud engine knock under heavy load at operating temperature. It has a full 1 YEAR warranty.

I suppose I could have spent $116.75 from the dearler for one in a Motorcraft box that comes with a whopping 30 DAY warranty. Then another $98.67 for the vacuum solenoid also from the dealer and that too only has a 30 DAY warranty.

but...when I replaced the Tensioner pulley and assembly, idler pulley, and belt, Motorcraft was the LEAST expensive by about $12.00! Never hurts to check around, eh?

Sounds like you played your cards right and saved some good cash.

FWIW, Motorcraft/Ford parts come with a 1-year warranty if they are installed by the dealership. (The labor is also warranted for a year).
