Hello again everyone. I think I have and idea of what I'm gonna add to my system. For a sub, I will put in a 10" Alpine Type-R, and for my amp I'll put in a Profile 600msx--410watts RMS @ 2ohms. Any objections? Thanks again guys.
Nate, just my .02 cents man. I would think twice about the profile amp. I went through two of them in my Bronco. You may save a little money now, but it really wasn't worth it.
Ya, thanks man. I went to audio stores and they said the same thing. Advance Audio told me to go with Memphis, Alpine, Kenwood or RF and Best Buy said not Sony or Alpine or Pioneer, but Kenwood or RF. I think I'll go with a RF Power 350s or 450s, or a Kenwood 829 or 929. Should sound pretty good, right?
memphis makes really really good amps, they run up there with kicker amps, equal quality in my opinion, and they wont burn a hole in your pocket. i know a guy who runs 2 rf punch 10's off a kenwood amp, and then i know a guy who runs 2 rf punch 10's off a memhis amp,wow the memphis amp was alot better quality then the kenwood. im just saying if i was in your position i would go with the memphis. ha rockford fosgate sucks in my opinion. they rate their amps way to high. you go the bd1500 but it sounds like a 800 watt amp!
I have a Kenwood KAC-819 that will be coming up for sale. Its a nice, well built amp that has i think 300x1 RMS 450 max at 2 ohms. I'm looking to get $125 its 200 brand new. I got it about 2-3 months ago, my truck got totalled so i can't use it. I'm going to upgrade to 2 10's instead of 1 10. Its got a lot of nice features that i could inform you about if you're interested. E-mail me at MustangGT221(No Email Addresses In Posts!).

Hey--
The Alpine Type-R is an excellent choice for a sub. Extremely accurate and deep... I recently installed two of those (12's) in a buddy's Cheby Blazer and they thump! Hookt up to a US Acoustics 600 watt amp. He's still breakin them in but so far I am thoroughly impressed. In Crutchfield I believe there is a US Acoustics 300 watt amp @ 2 ohms for a couple hundred...Match that with a Type-R Dual 4-ohm voice coil woofer and you got a good system. And please get yerself a 12" sub... Its only a few dollars more and you get that much more SPL and sound depth. I've played with all kinds of subs... 12's are the way to go!! Umm... For the most bang for yer buck amp... Get a two channel and bridge it 4-ohm... In that case you'd have to get a Dual 2-ohm voice coil Type-R sub and wire it series to get a 4-ohm load... Anyway... Good luck... Also check out sounddomain.com for reviews on amps and subs as well...

Hey thanks akford, but my problem is I don't have room for a 12" sub. If I did, I would probably go with a couple 15's, but I only have room for 1 10" in my center console. I think that's the best idea I've had in a long time (the center console). Ya, I've gone to sounddomain sometimes too. All the reviews I've seen are pro-sell-anything; they're all good.
But ya, thanks for your input everyone. I think I'm gonna buy a Memphis st500d from a guy in Arizona. Otherwise I'll talk to you about your Kenwood, Mustang.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-May-02 AT 02:07 AM (EST)]memphis studio amps (st) are awesome, i work part time at an audio store and thats what i recommend, we sell kicker and memphis amps mostly but for some reason i just like memphis better? before you buy this amp make sure its in good shape, if i were u i would buy it new, that way you will get the most out of it, and a WARRANTY,by the way that 500 watt class d amp might be too much for a 10, you could run one solobaric 10, or 2 regular 10's would sound real good off that amp
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Jun-02 AT 11:13 AM (EST)]Ok guys, listen to this. I am scrapping the whole 10" sub in the console idea. It just won't ever work right (for me). What I have decided to do now is make a box that goes from under the dash to the back seat, and take out the console. In the front under the dash I'm gonna put a 12" Type-R, facing back & angled slightly up. I'm gonna put another one right in front of the back seat facing forward and slightly up. And the amp, a Kenwood 929, is gonna go in the box in the middle, right around where the console would normally be, with a glass on top so you can see it!! Sound good? Anybody have any box building suggestions? Thanks.
(I swear this is the last time i'm changing my mind)
sounds good, i was going to do that to my truck except with pioneer premier nickel plate 12's, but i sad to heck with the back seat and put in 15's instead
