I have the floor console from a 98 explorer. It has the CD player in it with some controls at the rear of the console. My question is which Ford factory "radios" are compatable with this player. I understand there is a remote control that is available to control the system? Also can this CD player be used with other manf radios? Is this CD a good quality( just for a good average sound ) and who is it made by??sony, pioneer...

From my understanding, the changer is made by Clarion. I checked to see if the stock changer can be used with an aftermarket HU and it became pretty clear that it doesnt. You "may" be able to find a Clarion HU or adapter that will work with it but I doubt it. Any Ford radio with changer controls should support it (you need wiring if it wasnt included with the console). I have the stock changer and its ok. Im going to swap the whole system out though because the stock system is weak and the changer is pretty basic.
