I need hubs, thinking Warn Premiums

Every time I go to lock it into 4x4 I have at least one hub that wont lock in and I have to tap it with a hammer untill it locks in. Sometimes I will take them apart and clean and lube them but then after about a month of not using them they go back to sticking.

I have been looking at the Warn premiums and was wondering everyones thoughts on them or if they knew of another company that was good too. The problem is I will go months with out using 4x4 then when I need it, it doesnt work. I want hubs that will work when I need them to even if I dont use tem for months at a time.

Also where would be the best place to get a set? I already have manual hubs so I wont need any kind of kit right?
Thanks
John

What does the spring look like on your current hubs? Is it filled with grease? If so, wipe it clean and apply a small amount of grease to the spring coils themselves. Do not load up the cavity with grease, or the spring. Also, make sure there is a thin film on the splines of the hub. Too much grease can really gum them up. It's a good idea for puddle jumping, but, not so great for normal use. How often do you take the hubs down and clean/re-lube them? They need a bit of your attention at least quarterly. More if you puddle jump... I've got a pic of a toasted spindle off of my Bronco to vouch for MORE IF YOU PUDDLE JUMP part of the last statement.

The last time I was in anytype of water or mud was about 8 months ago. They worked fine after that too then one time I needed it in some sand and it wouldnt lock up. Took them apart and cleand and lubed them. I used a little grease and some gear lube. There wasnt much grease in there to start but there was a lot of tough grime that I cleaned out. I ve done it twice sense I had the truck and that hasnt been a year yet. I really only use them not to pull people out or in the sugar sand to keep the rear end from hopping. The truck dosent see much water or mud. Only that one time becuase there was three girls up front with me and two in the back (oh the things that girls get you into)

I'm running warn premiums and like them. Got a set of the standard on my parents 97 and haven't had any problems with them either.

Does Ford make the manuals that come stock on our trucks or do they have someone else make them and put their name on them?

I think im going to go with the Warns. I see that there are 3/4 ton light and heavy duty. How do I know what one I have? I think I had to go through this one other time when pricing out rotors but I can't remember
Thanks
