I put mine in the map sensor hose. The kit came with the T and fittings I needed to do this. Some put them on the spider cold side. Just depends on the way you want to do this.

Good luck.

I put mine in the MAP hose with the supplied T fitting. Some have done the AIH delete and tapped that hole for the boost gauge fitting. Early 99's don't have an AIH so if yours is an early then just do the MAP line.

You need to cut the line, and then put the t-fitting between the two pieces of hose. That's how I did mine just this past weekend.

Why would you want your check engine light to come on?

Since you don't have a boost fooler or OBA I would delete the AIH and put it there, so when you get the OBA you don't have to cut the line again. Plus deleting the AIH is almost a free mod.

You have a Air Intake Heater on the spider, it's connected to a second relay next to your glow plug relay (allows you a spare relay for GPs when you disconnected it). The AIH rarely turns on, it's just there to help reduce smoke on cold startups.

You can replace the AIH with a plug that accepts the tube that goes to your boost gauge.

OBA=over boost Annihilator, it goes between the MAP sensor and the spider and only allows the PCM to see a max of 22# of boost, so you don't throw a code and de-fuel the truck.

So my point was if you plan on getting a OBA you will have to splice the hose at the MAp sensor again, rather than doing that you could kill 2 birds with on stone and remove the AIH (which only restrictes air flow and doesn't do much else) and have a place for the boost to be read.

Hope that clears things up.

Here's where I put mine. Fitting came from Pure Diesel Power from above and is called an AIH delete with boost fitting. See the white boost line going to it.

And if you prefer to leave the AIH alone you can tap the intake like in this picture: 3-Gauge Install Pictures
