CS1085R...

Hydraulic camshaft, 1500-4000 rpm range,

282 intake/ 292 exhaust adv. duration,

204 intake and 214 exhaust duration @ .050 ,

Valve lift of .484 intake and .510 exhaust,

Lobe C/L is 112.

I'm sure there are many other better cams out there but for eightybucks if its even comparable to a better one i'll take it

not even close, that cam would never outperform your stock 400 with the comp cam xe256h, your dcr will suck also with this cam, here are the results:

CS1085R:

torque:
310@2000
329@3500
hp:
236@4500

XE256h:
386@2000
hp:
241@400

that was asuming you have the totaly stock engine with 8.4:1 compretion ratio with all the emissions equipment manifold and muflers, some headers aftermarket intake and carb would help ALOT...

Take a look at the K5200 from Summit Racing. I did a simulation on that a while back and it wasn't to bad. That Speed-Pro cam has slow ramp rates.

It's a funny thing that the Summit racing cam has the same specs as the Speed-Pro cam, except for the advertised durations.

ok so the power from the speed pro leaves alittle to be desired but thats a difference of around $160 dollars between speedpro and comp, I am poor and its for a beater mud truck. The numbers still look real good compared to stock. Will the cam hold together or will it be a flat pos after a hard mud run?

well the thing about my simulation on these cams was that the stock manifolds with mofflers, stock carb intake and low compression really took down the numbers, maybe you used headers or something, dont know, anyways danlee when simulating what are you using seat to seat timming or @0.050" on the cam part? Ive heard its better to use the duration at 0.050" being more exact ..

Dyno Sim allows me to use both seat-to-seat and duration @0.050", when I have them. That produces accurate ramp rates.

If you use just 0.050", you will miss the fact that the valve doesn't close for another 20 degrees and causes significant overlap.

If I was trying to decide which cam to use, I would call Summit Racing and verify that the K5200 seat-to-seat duration is 262/272 degrees. I would also ask about the Speed-Pro cam with the seat-to-seat duration of 282/292 degrees, and why it is so much different when the duration @ 0.050" is the same.

I have seen other cams with slow ramp rates. The Edelbrock Non-Performer being one of those. All of Comp Cams grinds have faster ramp rates. I think that you can get away with weaker springs with slow ramp rates, but you don't get the performance that you expect.

They should be ok but comp cams will get you more power..

Anyways Im using Dyno 2003 from protools but it wont let me combine both durations only for lifter acceleration rates, which version are you using? tahnx
