1997 Explorer 4 WD CD Changer Help!

The radio has a cd button and I have the changer, is there anything else I need to know or have to buy?

1997 Explorer 4 WD CD Changer Help!
Assuming you are adding a factory CD changer, you will need to get a wiring harness from your Ford dealer. It will cost around $50.00. What you have to do is, pull the head unit out of the dash. Then, disconnect the factory wiring from the head unit, plug it into the new wiring harness, then plug the harness into the back of the head unit. Also, you will have to remove the console top and run the new wiring harness through the console to the console mounted CD changer. For whatever reason, Ford does not include the wiring in the console for a changer unless they put it in at the factory. I did this on my 97 XLT and did not have any problems installing the harness or the CD changer. I bought my changer off of ebay for $180, including shipping.
