I pulled my camper to the lake this weekend noticed higher egt's. I knew this would probably happen after geting a 4" lift and running bigger tires. I was flirting with the 12 range more than I wanted. I did pull a low turbo pressure code. I checked one of the top boot hoses which I replaced a week or so ago that was loose. It's the top one of the passenger side. Don't know if the fixed the problem or not because the camper is at the lake but truck seems to running normal. What should I do if this doesn't fix the problem. I checked all hoses for leaks boost seems fine. I was thinking about maybe getting a bigger exhaust that might lower it a little. Turbo\injectors will done later this year.
I just pulled my 27' travel trailer to Destin FL and back (1200 mi or so) and there were times when the tach was redlined going up mountains. The highest I ever hit was 1100*, and that was only in short spurts....and when you get out of it, temps go down quick with a 5' system.
With that low boost code and higher EGT,S and running bigger and higher, i,m going to take a shot at it, maybe up-pipes. Any soot on back of fire wall? Yes, the exhaust will lower your egt,s greatly. Good luck.

I know my EGT's are a bit high and I know my u-pipes are leaking... I'm hoping that is my problem as well... I want bellowed pipes soon !! Please keep us posted on what you find !! Thanks.. Russ
With all these mods i,m looking foward too, i,m not saving any cash in case something does go wrong. P.A.A. got me. No leaks for me on the pipes but bellowed for sure when the do. Yes, keep us posted for sure and good luck.
Bigger tires will raise EGT's. You'll need to downshift more often to keep that in check. Your truck can run all day long at 2500 RPM's in 3rd gear if that's what it takes. If you are loaded down pretty heavy often, you might need to look at a gear swap to get your RPM's back in the correct range.
And like the others said, carefully check for any exhaust leaks, and check those boots again for a boost leak too.
Like Curtis posted, RPM's are your friend, shift out of OD and let her rip... Check all the boots and go from there. Whats your max boost? When it happens again, try and remember the RPM's, Speed, and Boost levels... This can tell us alot.
I recently had the bellowed pipes installed, along with a Turbo Master controller. In addition to the expected benefits, one unexpected I also got was no turbo surge from the original wheel. I had it before but it's gone now with fantastic boost and lower egt's again.
