Width at front fenders approx. 79.1 inches.
If your wheels and tires are wider than fenders you must add this to it.
The length (long bed truck) is approx. 211 inches from front bumper to tailgate plus add for whatever rear bumper you have.
You would have to check the car dolly capacity. I personally have never seen one big enough to handle a F150 FWD. I have a stock 79 F250 with stock wheels and tires. It is 76.5 inches outside to outside on the front tires. If you can secure it properly by crossing your straps or chains, you should be ok. The wheelbase of the truck will fit on your trailer and assuming your trailer can handle the weight, use it. If you don't have enough chains to tie this truck down, though, don't risk it. Seriously though, have you gotten a quote to get it towed? A AAA RV membership is 104.00 and covers you up to 100 miles. I use mine at least once a year.

Do you think the F150 would be around 3 inches smaller? The last time I had my dads pickup towed was around $40 for 6 miles.. And Im 70 miles from the truck. I have hauled around 6000lbs of hay, for about 120 miles, how much would a 79 F150 4x4 weigh? I had no trouble hauling the hay.
I dont think the car dolly would work either, someone just recommended looking into it, with removing the driveshaft.
I wouldn't know. I never owned a 150. Repost your question asking axle width outside to outside and wheelbase. I still suggest you get a quote. Another thing you need to consider is if the truck has stock wheels and tires.
get a reese tow bar. they bolt to the front bumper holes. i tow my bronco from colo. to texas just diconect the drive line and steering at the drag link.

lets talk more about this.. i have a AAA RV membership and really never use it.. just a "in case ***** happens" insurance policy for me. so does the vehical have to be licensed for them to tow it? do they ask any questions besides where is point A and where is point B? cause my truck is missing steering bars and can't get it up on trailer..
love the way you think! outside the box!
