I worked at the wiring all day yesterday, now have the start circuit complete. Found a few other snafus, that I had to change. Its been 3 years since teardown of the donar. Used pictures and circuit diagrams, and finally got harness roughed in. I had hoped to start it but the fuel pump picks up then releases again. I don't have the harness to the fuel pump grounded so will try that first to see if it solves my problem.
The patio pavers are calling so no truck work today, hopefully this evening.
EFI fuel pump needs it's own ground, IIRC. On my 85 F150 w/302 efi, it has it's own fuel pump relay, and has it's own ground straight to the battery. Either of these if failed, will prevent you from hearing the fuel pump turning on before cranking. I found that out the hard way, lol.
Thanks for the re-enforcement for grounding the fuel pump, I hope to get at it tomorrow before work and fire the truck up again. Hasn't run for 6 months. I chase a lot of wiring bugs yesterday, but nice to have it back to working order. My start circuit works great, envision pull switch on the throttle, series with start button.
Laid another 100 sq ft of pavers today, in the rain of course.
My only truck stuff this weekend was a bit of driving; I had to haul tables and chairs ove to a graduation party. The rest of the weekend was filled with doing the final painting in the kids rooms, patching the floors, and other domestic chores....ugh
Actually got the truck running yesterday before leaving for work ! The MagnaFlows have more growl than I remember ! All it took was grounding the fuel pump properly. Now I need to concentrate on getting the transmission linkage sorted out so I can "road "test.
