1979 460 4x4 Step-Side

Ok, long story short I am thinking of minimizing my life. Divorce, blah, blah. I have had new trucks for a while I have a FJ now and a lifted 05' F150 before. Anyway, I found a 79' 4x4 step-side 460 in GREAT shape, A/C works, nice interior.

New paint, pearl white, super straight, gauged the paint no bondo anywhere. 10k on trans, front, and rear differentials. Basically it supposed to have about 12-15k in it. Arizona truck so darn clean all around.

Since it will be paid for gas mileage isn't that big a deal (ok, I work for an oil company too). But what can I expect from the 460...10mpg's??

Is 6500 for this truck reasonable. My gut says yes but that is because I like the body style and I am trying to make a little more informed decision than ..I like, heres my money..

Any help would be appreciated!

You might want to ask a lot of questions regarding the engine....who built it, what it came out of, etc. 79 4x4's didn't come with 460's in them. I'm fairly certain that the largest engine that came in any 79 4x4 was a 400. So, it's obviously a swapped engine, but that's why the questions should be posed.

As for it being a flareside, not my thing, but that's cool....not sure about 6500 for a flareside with a swapped engine, tho. It's all in the eye of the beholder. Mine did have the original 400 in it, tho, which I'm in the process of rebuilding. I paid too much for my truck too, but I just had to have it. If that's the case with this truck, then the only person that can tell you to fork over the cash, is you.
