Hi folks I need an advice on changing the spark plugs on my 1977 F-150 Supercab, The engine is the 400 6.6 Ltr. 2 barrell. I wanna know if I should stick with the brand that I've been using since forever (Motorcraft) or how recommendable it is to use other brands since there's so much out there nowdays like BOSCH, Champion, NGK, ACDelco, and all those types like 2 platinum and all that stuff. The dealer recommended Motorcraft ASF42, I've been using Motorcraft AWSF52C, what would you recommend? Thanks for your answers!!
You're not going to see much difference. A spark plug makes a spark jump across a gap of air. Pretty hard to mess that up or improve it. Don't waste your time on the hype; stick with what works and gap to spec. Autolite\Motorcraft will be fine.
I've had bad luck with Champion, stick to what you've been doing. Those fancy tips don't seem to do much of anything but the platinum tips seem to resist oil fouling better, NOT good, just better.

I wouldn't use Autolites any longer since they are now made in China, anyone know if the Motorcraft plugs are still made in the USA?

Had this discussion over in the FE forum. I'm not sure if they are being phased out to China? But at our local WalMart all the autolites stated made in USA.
And yes...We always use NGK V-Power. Not to spendy, looks pretty cool LOL..And the truck runs good on 'em.
next time i change my plugs i think im going to use the e3 ones. i've been using autolite platnum, but the last time i did my plugs one of them snapped in half. scared the bujesses outa me. i thought i was going to have a problem getting it out.
What plugs do you guys think I should use for my 351 that I built up to a 408 with a hyrolic roller cam? Do you think I should go with a different/hotter plug, or should I stick with the origionals. Also, what are the origionals from motorcraft supposed to be?
The theory of sparkplugs is that the spark likes to transfer from one sharp point or corner to another which is the reason over time they where to rounded look wearing of these corners, hence the v-groove and splitfire design promoting better spark transfer and longer life with more sharp edges. I have used autolite for years and only now are trying the NGK's. We'll see I guess
