Here are the 2 trucks I'm looking at this weekend. Truck #1- 79' F250 superduty crewcab, 351m 4spd, 1 ton posi rear end (5001 gvw), tow package and bushbar. Truck #2- 83' F250 supercab longbox, 351W/C6 trans, tow package. Both trucks are 2wd and pretty evenly matched as far mileage, condition and price are concerned. I intend to use the truck as a daily driver/ work truck for about a month before turning it into a full time bush truck. Based on the information I've given, if you were buying one of these trucks, which one would you buy? I welcome all comments, suggestions and advice. Thanks in advance.
IMO, it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Either one of those trucks is a good buy at the right price.
One thing you may look at is if you drive this truck in the city all day long, working the clutch gets a little old in stop and go traffic, (trust me, I know), so the automatic on the 83 might be a little more traffic friendly.
But, I'm a little biased to the 80-86 body style so I'd go with the 83 if it were me.
