General Thread Question

For a few weeks now I've been getting emails from this site saying that someone has responded to a thread I've posted in. I get one for every thread I've posted in even if it was months ago. The site thinks I'm somehow subscribed to the thread when in fact I've never done such a thing. I'm forced to go and unsubscribe from each and every one even though I did not subscribe in the first place. It seems like a default was changed. How do I change the default back to unsubscribe. These emails are annoying only in that I get enough spam already.

Go into the User CP (leftmost link on the blue bar above), and on the left hand side scroll down to "edit options". Scroll down in that menu, and you will see the default option to subscribe or unsubscribe from threads.

Thanks. Now I have another question. After I changed the subscribe thing and unsubscribed from all the new threads I was subscribed to, I noticed something labeled "Latest Reputation Received." It looks I have 3 atta boys with 13 points. Whats this about? I coulda been handing out atta boys for years now.

What I really mean is, what do the three things I have listed as "reputation" mean? How did I get them? How is it I have 13 points since 13 isn't divisible by 3? How are points assigned? What do points mean? Are they points like the tickets my kids win at Chucky Cheese and once I save up 4 million of them I'll be able to redeem them for a nickel sized rubber ball?

I just have no idea behind the concept of 'reputation' and 'points' as to how they apply to this website.

I noticed your green bar is longer than mine. You have 5 dark green segments and 3 bright ones. What's the difference and what does your 8 segments mean?

when you post something that someone else really likes or was helpful they can give you rep points (the little old school scale icon) as a thank you kind of thing, i think more then anything it is a bragging point more then anything, the brighter ones i think are just what you get when you have 5 dark ones, and 8 means that he has been here for a while and is very helpfull to other people. and you can change the setting so that you dont get auto subscribe to every thread you post in, you can also change when and even if you get email notification of new posts.

you just click on that scale deal in the top right corner of their post(the one to the right of the "(permalink)" and to the left of the warning triangle. then a box will apear that says "What do you think of .....'s post? aprove or disaprove" then a text box for you to say, "Oh thank you brady you really showed me what i need to know" or something like that.
