I picked up my transmission at the Ford dealer today, it came in a 2 piece plastic tub type container. The price was $860 which was 60 more then originally quoted because of the extra shipping from OK. to Pa. This trans is ready to plug in play with torque converter, modulator, and filled with trans fluid. They told me it was the only one in the US available right now. They give you a 3 year 100,000 warranty on it. They also charge you a $600 core charge.
probably about the same price as buying a unit and having it rebuilt professionally, maybe even cheaper. chances are it's a rebuilt considering the core charge. why didn't u just have yours rebuilt? just curious. either way sounds like a great deal for a new tranny, 100,000 mile warranty! can't beat that deal w/ a stick!
Cool6.9 diesel guy, I picked up a salvage trans for $500 which was warranted for 30 days and before installing it I seen this deal at the Ford dealership. 3 year 100,000 for $800. The salvage trans went back, How could I turn down an offer. Ford even warrants their rebuilt gas motors for 3 years 100,000 miles. All the rebuilt transmissions I seen were less then a year for warranty.
The only problem with genuine ford rebuilds is that they were outside vendor jobs that didn't require any update mods. Its been quite awhile sence I bought one and maybe things have changed!
PLC7.3, The warranty states that as long as I dont alter, add parts, or race, the transmission is warranted including labor R&R based on Ford shop time at the time of purchase also towing up tp 35 miles for 3 years 100,000 miles. There is a rebuild date of 05-09-08 on the trans, I would imagine there would be updates.
I wonder if that tranny was rebuilt by bluminthals for ford here in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma. Its a longshot but I think they are the biggest rebuilders here in OK but not sure. If it is, We have used several of their c6 rebuilds behind a 300 I6 gas in our smaller econolie style box trucks. They held up very well under some brutel conditions all day 5 days a week on dirt roads. Either way, sounds like you got a great deal. Its uncommon to not come back from the dealership feeling like they ripped you a new one.
cool6.9dieselguy, I use the truck for plowing my drive but mostly going hear and there. 90% of my driving is with my Explorer. Ford is giving alot of rebates on many Motorcraft rebuilt items ( ac compressors, diesel engines, gas engines, transmissions, fuel pumps, alterators, brake pads, hoods and fenders, radiaters) They black booklet spelling out all the rebates.
you will have to flush the cooler and install the inline filter that came with the unit
it is a rebuilt unit
the C-6 went the way of the do-do bird many years ago
and there are not any more upgrades
Is you user name related to the shotguns? Just had to ask, they make some far-out trap guns. I can't ,or more correctly can't make myself, afford one but I've worked on a couple for my insurance guy, he's a trap-shooting nut.
Oh yea meant to tell u to do what they say about changing the oil, does the warranty say anything about that?, like what atf to use and what intervals to change it at(sometimes not just mileage, but months), i dont know much about warranties but I would guess they would want you to have them change it but more or less so you can prove it was changed and at the right times....
Did you by any chance to check to see if they sell any new/rebuilt 6.9/7.3's? I"m wondering how much they would go for w/ those rebates......
