dodge/cummins, Yes I shoot alot of trap and one of my shotguns is a stainless mono Ljutic. For doubles I use a Perazzi MX-8/MX-2000 That Ljutic has over 175,000 rounds thru it and is tight as the day I got it.
Cool6.9dieselguy, They don't specify oil change intervals on the trans. hear is the deiesel engine codes in the rebate program. 6006,6v006,6007,6v007 all diesel engines with the following prefixs calgb, slgb, lgb. All these engines are $300 off intil Aug. 31st.
The transmission covers 7000, 7v000,7002,7003. All are $100 off until the same date. All are 3 year 100,000 warranty.
Cool6.9 diesel guy, I picked up a salvage trans for $500 which was warranted for 30 days.
GOOD GOD!
What salvage yard is selling used C6's for $500?!?!!!!!
I never paid more for a used C6 than $100, (and that was because it was a low mile small block bolt pattern), and most often it was only $65 to $75!
Add, what, $150 for a full rebuild kit with all the frictions, a shift kit and the fluid, then another $150 or so for the E4OD planetary gear setup.
While at it looking around the salvage yard, look for a better servo piston if yours is not at least a "D", or better yet, an "F" or even better, an "H" servo piston (the "R" is the best but too damn rare, but can be had at Ford) and look for the "H" or "F" servo lever and second gear is "set for battle".
And add an extra clutch friction and metal plate to the forward and direct clutch packs, but you will need someone to machine/grind the thicker plates a little thinner to make some extra room for them.
I like the semi-metallic friction plates that are supposed to require the older type "F" fluid, but I have used the newer all purpose Dextron/Mercon fluid.
Perhaps $150 to 200 for a real nice furnace brazed torque converter.
And for the strongest set up, get the old FE style out put shaft (short and with a bearing supported U joint flange) but you will need to add a slip yoke on a support bearing just behind the trans, but you can destroy the drive-line and still not break the trans case.
For $800 I can build one hell of a stout/stump pulling C6/E4OD hybrid!
archangel, Do a search on car-parts.com for a c 6 4x4 diesel trans, you will be supprized what their getting. $300-$800. What is Fords shop time for R&R for this trans?

its not an overdrive for the C-6
you can change the low and second gear ratios to that of an E4OD for more low gear torque
however you wont buy all of those planetary parts for only $150.00

Exactly. The Pull A Part I just went to was like 75 - 125 dollars. They have lots of c6's, you just have to crawl around and pull them. I belive They have a 6.9 diesel there to for 175 but getting a 900lb engine out of this place would be next to impossible. Cars are parked like at a dealer ship but front to front and very little room for a cheary picker on gravel and all vehicles are sitting on their rims that were pulled off. You almost have to climb over stuff to get to it. Any Ideas how to get it out??

I do know some wreckers look up the price new and figure 3/4 the price is a deal, but I only went to places like that twice, and left wondering how they stay in business.

Overdrive for a C6?
No, but answered below.

Just think of how much stronger a STEEL planetary with 6 planetary gears is in place of the ALUMINUM planetary with 3 planetary gears.
It was about 2004 the last time I did the modification/swap and although they are hard to find, there are places that sell used transmission parts out of torn down/salvaged units.
There used to be Ebay suppliers that carried the steel planetary upgrade parts, I can't seem to find them now. It is possible to upgrade the overdrive and forward planetarys with a new imput shaft for close to $150. Reverse planetarys are usually more expencive, but last I saw them the cost was comming down.
The lowest price I ever saw for a steel 6 pinion forward planetary and thrust bearing was $60 before shipping. It was OEM ford.
EDIT: found some. Not as cheap as I got, but still pretty good. The reverse planetary comes with a lot of parts hence the cost. It is possible to simply get the planetary by itself for a much lower cost. Although frankly, its not usually the reverse gear that goes on these transmissions.
just so those that are considering changing planets in a c-6 to the e4od
you must change the front planet , the front ring gear , the front ring gear hub , and the bearing
then the sun shell and the sun gear
the rear planetary and the output ring gear
a lot of parts that cost money
as for buying used stuff good luck nearly all of that has been bought up by the rebuilders
about the only way to find most of it is new at least in my area it is

I don't remember each and every part, but the price was in the $150 area, and I used to have a few around.
Now I'm going to look around again and see what they are going for now.
Hey there "ford trans tech", do you know what year they updated the E4OD to the steel 6 gear forward planetary?
According to my manual, 1998 was the first year that they were available on some transmissions. Seems a little strange, becasue the superduty was not out for that year.
I called the 800 Ford warranty line today and they say in order to not void the warranty I have to put an inline filter, and a new oil cooler not flushed but new. I picked up the inline filter kit from Ford for $45. The person I spoke to said all 1989-1999 trucks require a filter. I am wondering if he is confusing my C6 with the E4od?

The cooler could hold crap waiting to destroy your new transmission, and the C6 had no filter, just a wire mesh screen.
Well, the C6 was not offered for the general public after 1988 as it was replaced by the E4OD, but the C6 could be had on fleet purchases of 50 units or more for quite a few years after 1989, so there are quite a few out there confusing the few/many unaware of that fact.
