Have fun with that little bracket that holds the fuel filter on.... that portion took MUCH longer than it needed too - both to remove and install!!! I think I finnally kicked it into place... no special tool to remove or install the filter from the "clamp" that holds it to the frame (or maybe a prybar and some dynamite ), just need a fuel line disconnect tool to disconnect the lines. One of many things that if I'd engineered this truck it would be better!!
If the damn fuel line doesn't get you that stupid clamp on the frame will. I found using a screw driver wedged into the clamp can help to remove the old filter. Also remember to put the filter in the right position.
I changed my fuel filter last week. I purchased a set of tools from O'Reilly's. Lisle (LIS39400) Angled Disconnect Tool Set. Just google these and then pick them up at O'Reilly's or Autozone of some other similar store.
It was very easy to do and took all of 5 minutes to do the job, including jacking up the truck to get my big belly under there.
There were stainless steel clips on each end of the filter that were easy to unlatch and move out of the way. The smallest of the above mentioned tool removed the lines from the filter. The bracket that holds the filter in place is a spring type of bracket that I was able to pry open enough to slide the old filter out and the new one in easily. Snap the hoses back on and the clips back in place and the job was done. Good luck!
