I think it all depends on the purpose of the vehicle. The LR3 uses an air bag suspension and the h2 also uses them in the rear on some models. I think if you have a good strong bag and a correctly built suspension(for air bags) it can be done. I don't see why you can't modify a kelderman setup. I would do it because its different but i also would design it so that if i had to i could modify it slightly to run coils. Basically I thinks its a good idea and you should go ahead and do it.
An airbag setup could be easily changed to a coil-over since airbags are a coil replacement in simplistic terms.
Some problems that I was wondering about are:
-Would I have to add more slip shaft to the drive lines, front most likely.
-The Kelderman setup uses a parellel 4-link, however a triangler 4-link would be better for an adjustable suspension, since it doesn't require a panhard bar and the binding issues there.
-And smaller issues like clearancing the tranny cross member so that it doesn't bind on the front drive line.
