I have dual whips on my truck and would like to put orange lights on the tips of them, can anyone give me advice on what type of light, and how to wire it?
You can do that just by running to small gauge(20awg) wires to the top and then put your lights on.
The downside to this is it makes the antenna's pretty much useless as the will not pickup any signal, because of the ground wire running the length of them. I have tried this before and know this, but the lights did look cool.
They do make antenna's with flouroscent lights built in to them. They don't require any wires because the RF power causes them to light up anytime you key the mic.
We used to buy small flouroscent bulbs and tape them to our ant. and it would have the same effect.
I thought of this one the other day im not shore if it will work. Get a set of those valve stem lights, the ones that light when the tire spins, epoxy it to the top of the antenna. the whiping of it should be enough of a force to power the light. You can find them in JC Whitney. Let me know if it works
