I was wondering if there would be any bad affects if I made a box that sealed to the back of my cab, as in permently sealing a box to the back using the cab wall as part of the box. I'm desperate for volume in my tiny cab.
Also, does the thickness of particle board make any difference in sound? I'm looking for lightness and sound quality.
as i posted in ur other post, the standard thickness is 3/4" MDF for making a box. u could try fiberglass to make a box. try searching termpro.com for fiberglassin techniques. basaically all u do it make a frame, stretch fleece over it, add resign mixed with hardener wait till it dries and then add resin and fiberglass mating to build up the layers. then seal the inside off with underbody coating. that site will give a better instrustion on how to do it.
I feel 5/8 MDF is the standard thickness for a box. If you would make the back wall of your truck part of the box i feel the thin tin of your truck would vibrate terribly and sound like crap. The back wall of my truck vibrates from my subs and they are right next to it but i do have 2 12s back there
3/4" MDF will be fine, but a fiberglass box will be stronger is built right. it has great sound and will be lighter and look a hell of a lot better when done. i dont recommend putting a box mounted to the back of the cab, terrible vibrating.
